Redimensionneur

There are four things you can do with the free application Redimensionneur, which is French for “resizer”. As its name points out, you can use it to resize images – just one, if just one needs resizing, or more at a time if that is the case. You can also use the application to create thumbnails, to change the format of images, and to add text watermarks on images.

The Redimensionneur installation file is a lightweight 2.5MB in size. You can install the application on a PC powered by Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. A simple setup wizard that asks you to pick the installation directory and select if you want a desktop shortcut will guide you through the installation process.

All the functionality Redimensionneur has to offer is presented on its simplistic interface. At the top there’s a list of all the images selected for resizing. Underneath you will find the resizing options, a dropdown to choose the output format, easy access to a “Customize watermark” window, and options for creating thumbnails. Down at the bottom you will find the button to let Redimensionneur do its job.

After you load one or more images into Redimensionneur, you can choose what you want the application to do. You can resize images (specify the precise width and length, choose if you want the ratio to be respected), you can add a text watermark to the images (select what text will be added, pick the font style and size for the text, select where the watermark will be placed), you can change the format of the images (JPG, BMP, and PNG formats are supported), and you can choose to create thumbnails from the source images. When you’re done picking what you want Redimensionneur to do, hit the “Launch the selected tasks” button.
